My friend died yesterday. She died. Not “passed peacefully,” “became an angel,” or “lost her battle with cancer.” She died.
She battled hard. She lived strong. She laughed mightily. And she died.
I know all the platitudes and Bible verses and well-wishes. Not one of them consoles me today. Because her death is utterly unfair. There is no nice way to paint this: I hurt to the core.
Tomorrow I will see the victory, and feel the comfort of knowing she’s in heaven. Just not today.
